Tyler.Beckett got their new app by running a design contest:
Hoagie.Hub needs the UI for a Web App
Check out Tyler.Beckett's App contest…
WHO WE ARE: Hoagie.Hub is a fast-casual sandwich shop that offers customers the ultimate creative experience. Customers utilize a single HTML 5 web app to create, brand, purchase, and share their Hoagie.Hub creations.
What's your vision?
WHAT WE NEED: We need your designs for the three key screens of this web app! SOME GUIDANCE: This app will be accessed both in-store and at work/home. Because it will primarily be accessed on small laptops and tablets, your designs should be for the Kindle Fire's 7'' screen. While you won't be building the Mobile version of this app, you should consider that the mobile app will be made to behave in the same manner. In other words, the perfect design would be one that can be put on a 3.5'' screen and still be functional. Also, you should consider that the app is 100% touch based (so no rollover states!) AESTHETIC: Hoagie.Hub strives to remain simple and free of clutter. We coined the term "casual zen" to describe the aesthetic. "Zen" because of the simple, meditative, and clean lines, and "casual" because it is welcoming and friendly. A balance needs to be struck here. Too much "zen" and the aesthetic becomes cold and unapproachable. Too casual, and we lose our positioning. THE THREE SCREENS: 1) The Start Screen (see wireframe). 2) The Create.Hub (see wireframe). The Create.Hub is the key feature of the Hoagie.Hub App. This is where customers will create their sandwiches from scratch, name them (The Turkey Tornado, anyone?) purchase them, and share them. This screen also offers the ability to visualize the nutrition in the sandwich being created. 3) The User Portfolio (no wireframe). The Portfolio is where users visualize all of their creations (up to 14). Editing one of these sandwiches opens the Create.Hub. There should be an option to purchase from this page. The Porfolio also devotes some of the screen to real-time updates or recent news that is pushed to all accounts. EXISTING LOGO AND FONTS: Hoagie.Hub has an existing logo and font that can be seen on the FactSheet.Doc. The font used for the logo is called Monako and is a free license font. QUOTE: A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. Antoine de Saint-Exupery
