yesmarklapointe got their new banner ad by running a design contest:
Design a 940x198 pixel Animated GIF as a Header Image for a Christian Blog Website
Check out yesmarklapointe's Banner ad contest…
Designed to be a blog used by a Catholic local church, but is meant to be open to all people wanting to discuss religion and politics.
What's your vision?
Create a webpage banner / header image that has some kind of animated GIF movement. It is for a Wordpress installation ( using the Weaver Theme) so the recommendation is to be 940 pixels wide x 198 pixels tall. Dominant colors of green, black, silver & gold (metallic looking). The idea is to put the title of the webpage, “ChristianCrossFire” (notice the lack of clear spaces leaves one wondering is it crossfire or cross fire) in an unusual font in the middle and then have two symbols on either side. One symbol will be that of a Christian cross (not a crucifix). The other symbol will be that of the planet earth. You can see an example at the top of this page: www.ChristianCrossfire.org. I tried it but the lettering doesn't look metallic and the planet earth doesn't currently appear at the right. The animation would be to make the cross and the planet burn. I don't want the colors of the flames to be red, orange, or yellow like a real shooting war "crossfire". I want it to be gently, slowly burning in shades of metallic sliver / white to convey more of a God’s grace or Holy Spirit sense to the burning. The website is for blogging about religious and political issues, the reader is in the crossfire of ideas. The current image you see is 23Kb. I presume an animated GIF would be larger since it holds multiple images inside. Final file size should be less than 250Kb (flexible, depending on design).
