I'm writing a book on how to get to the #1 spot in the App Store. Here is the full synopsis of the book: Short: Ridiculously detailed insights to "making it" in the App Store. From the creator of a minimalist text based RPG that conquered the App Store and took the #1 spot across thirteen countries. This book will help your games survive and thrive in a flooded market. Long: Amir Rajan is an indie game developer who quit his corporate job and created a game that conquered the App Store. He's a scientist at heart. So during his fourteen month journey, he meticulously documented everything that occurred during A Dark Room's quiet beginnings, all the way through to its meteoric rise and fall. This book will enumerate all aspects of creating a game that can survive in the App Store. Such as: How to make small, sustainable income. Tips on building games for a mobile medium. Tips on having a public presence as an indie developer. Finding a community to market to. How to contact editors/reviewers. How to pitch your game to Apple. Tips for creating a good App Store page. Pricing strategies. In's and out's of the review and ranking system. Marketing your app with zero money.
What's your vision?
I need a book cover designed. - The book is an ebook, so there will be no spine or back. - The book is about marketing and "App Store insider knowledge". Something that most game developers don't have access to. - The book is being written by a successful indie game developer (Amir Rajan). Here are a list accomplishments that must be showcased: The cover **MUST** communicate the following: - The book is created by a game developer that hit the #1 spot in the App Store - The game (A Dark Room) has received over 2.5 million downloads world wide. - The game (A Dark Room) has been ranked #1 in 13 countries. - The game was on Apples top 10 Apps of 2014. - The title of the book must be: Surviving the App Store - The subtitle of the book must be: How to Succeed as an Indie Game Developer
I have a couple of copies that you can use for inspiration. But I'm open to anything you can think up (the goal is of course is to get the customer to purchase my book). The target customer would be indie game developers and marketing/business development departments. I've included two images. The first image has been generally received as more professional. The second image is more closer to my personal brand. The winning book cover will have a professional look, but should be consistent with my brand, which is: - Simplicity. - Honesty. - There to help the little guy. - Hard work and persistence, like climbing a tall mountain and reaching the top.
