What's your vision?
Jacket cover art for my new book. The book's title is "Fit Dogs Live Forever." The subtitle is "How an Obesity Epidemic is Killing Our Dogs and How to Save Your Best Friend's Life." The author is "Daniel ("Coach Dan") Schulof." The author's title is "Founder and President of Varsity Pets." The book is an expose of the canine obesity epidemic, a public health crisis that is killing dogs every day. It is also a how-to guide that teaches readers how to keep their dogs fit and healthy. There are more details about my design preferences in the "other" text field.
One point I'd like to convey is that I'd like the images/photos/design of the jacket cover to show only cute and fit dogs, not fat ones. I would like to highlight the issue of canine obesity by showing what a fit dog looks like, not a fat one. It goes without saying that any dog image used in the jacket cover should be extremely cute and handsome. My company, Varsity Pets, has an assortment of visual elements associated with the brand. They are generally in red, white, and blue colors, with collegiate font. Some examples are attached to this message. There are two primary design concepts for the jacket cover that are particularly appealing to me: 1) A primarily white background with text in colors/font that are consistent with Varsity Pets's other branding. Then a minimal amount of art/photo imagery (remember the comment above about fit vs fat dogs) that communicates what the book is about. 2) A primarily black background with white or gold or silver text. Then a minimal amount of art/photo imagery (remember the comment above about fit vs fat dogs) that communicates what the book is about. An example of this look is the cover of the book "The Paleo Manifesto," which is attached. These aren't the only two design concepts that I'm interested in but they are the two primary ones that I've been able to come up with on my own.
