We're a small publisher of Christian books. Protestant, sometimes our topics are a little edgier than standard Christian bookstore fare, sometimes not. We sell a lot via Amazon and other Internet sales channels, not so much (but some) through Christian and other bookstores.
What's your vision?
We're looking for a book cover for a re-release of a book previously titled "God is in a Good Mood" We believe the previous title, cover (attached) and interior layout contributed to this book's lack of success in the first publication. New title is "Extraordinary Gospel: Experiencing the Goodness of God". The topic is on the idea of grace, that we don't have to earn God's favor, that He bestows it on us, not because of what we do, but because of what His Son has already done. Cover concepts have ranged from the idea of a happy God (a God that is not angry), to a person immersed in a rain shower (i.e. immersed in God's goodness, to an illustration of how Christ's sacrifice equals God's love for us. Attached are the original cover, a cover comp we did in house that may convey the idea but the art and text are commingled to the point that the message gets jumbled, a few other graphic ideas and the back cover blurb and author bio. We've also kicked around the idea of a bit of a 'grunge' theme.

I really loved the way that the design looked and the font. She really captured the colors and brightness that I was looking for, and she followed my instructions very well. She's a very talented designer.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
