The Australia Institute
The Australia Institute is the country’s most influential progressive think tank. Based in Canberra, it conducts research on a broad range of economic, social and environmental issues in order to inform public debate and bring greater accountability to the democratic process.
This graphic is about inequality in Australia. Please note that we need this graphic to be finalised by this Friday, the 4th of July. Because of this we will need this contest to be quick and we may finish the first round early if we are happy with the designs. It would be great if you could therefore submit your designs quickly. Thanks!
The design should have a heading like 'The land of the fair go?'.
The first part of the graphic is about comparing the wealth of low income and high income people. There is a graph in the attached document that does this. This section of the graphic should therefore focus on the graph and use that to illustrate the inequality between low income and high income Australians.
Underneath the graph should be a line that says:The top 20% have 71X the wealth of the bottom 20%The words 71X should be highlighted in this section.
Underneath this line should be a graph showing the gap in wealth between low and high income people.
The graphic should have another line underneath this graph that says:
7 families hold more wealth than the 1.73 million households in the bottom 20%.
It would be good if you could illustrate this graphically somehow. Maybe have seven people standing there and then just a whole group of other people. This is the key point so you really need to make it stand out.
Thanks. I am looking forward to seeing the designs!
We would like the design to be A4 please. Also please note again the time pressure for this design. This means that we may have to close the qualifying round early. Thanks.
