Games & Recreational
MyFairyKingdom An online web portal integrated with offline cross platform games that provide children aged 3-8 years with a fantasy world where they can meet and interact with fairies and the other inhabitants of the fairy kingdom. Through a series of games, stories and educational activities the children's characters and associated fairies develop their abilities and collection of special items.
What's your vision?
We're looking for the base boy and girl fairy avatar that can be customised with various features and accessories so that each boy or girl who joins has a unique looking fairy friend to accompany them through The Fairy Kingdom. We'd like a male and female fairy design that is suitable to be built up in layers so that additional hair, wings, nose, eyes, clothes and accessories can be created to increase the possible unique combinations. We'd like to see a representation of the base Male and Female Fairy and a fully formed fairy of both sexes. The Fairy would be used in a variety of situations within the website, possibly in different poses with very basic animation, such as wings fluttering, hair rippling or eyes blinking. So the design has to be simple enough to not have to create an unmanageable number of components to achieve this. However this exercise is for us to identify the look of our fairies. We don't want the designs to be sexual, think child friendly and appealing. We will at a later stage be developing pet animals to be collected, so again the design would have to fit in with the ability to create pets (normal and fantasy) in the same graphical style. Think elegance, refinement, and beauty, over cartoon like characters, but complexity in the artwork is obviously a compromise considering what we're trying to achieve. We'd expect to auto generate the combinations of hair, eyes, wings to go with the base torso, and probably have a pallet of colours that could be applied to each type of item, i.e skin, top clothes, bottom clothes, shoes, hair etc. with this in mind any items should not have more than a couple of colours making them up, for example to illustrate shade or depth etc.
For all Finalists.. Firstly, thank you for contributing to the competition, it's been a pleasure to review your submissions. Requirements ——————— Please provide the representation of the base Boy and Girl Fairy Avatar layer that features, clothes and accessories can be overlaid. (so just kind of pants and vest look, no hair, facial features, wings, clothes, accessories etc) The avatars should be in a floating pose with one arm capable of holding a wand, and looking towards the viewer. Please also provide a fully layered up Fairy Girl Please also provide a fully layered up Fairy Boy. The Base avatar should be in the highest resolution possible but at a minimum of 640 pixels high Please provide in actual size the following features/items that can be added to the base avatar in order to create really fairy combinations For each Sex (It's possible that things could be shared across the sexes, in which case we're still like to see the total combination) 3 Pairs of eyes ( so 6 Pairs in total across boy and girl) 3 Types of Hair (6) 3 Types of Noses (6) 3 Types of Wings (6) 3 Types of top Clothes (6) 3 Types of Bottom Clothes (6) 2 Wands (4) 3 shoes/boots etc (6) 3 Hair styles (6) 2 head accessories (i.e hat, glasses, tiara etc) (4) General Notes ——————— Please keep the designs without overt signs of puberty, i.e bosoms, hips, or indeed sexy poses or clothes. The fairy's are to be the children's fun and friendly friends to have adventures with, so not moody or aggressive - cheeky mischievous features would be ok as an option We are aiming for child like figures, our initial expectation were dainty and elegant, and beautiful The palette of each item/layer should be reasonably limited so that the colours can be changed to provide more options, ideally programmatically rather than having to store thousands of unique images Please provide an indicative quote for further work to produce an additional set of 10 layers of the above types (eyes, hair, noses etc) for both Boy and girl, each in a set of 5 colours. With additional 4-5 frames for the wings, hair and eyes, to show subtle movement for animation (eyes blinking, wings slightly fluttering, hair flowing) Please indicate the file format that the final artefacts will be provided in We expect a final iteration of the design after a winner has been chosen, but will not add any more items to the scope. Please indicate if you have the skills to turn the designs into 3D formats and to add rigging so that poses could be automated. We will provide specific feedback to each finalist.
