What's your vision?
I am looking for the design of a villain and several other simple images for an abstract, 2D mobile game. The villain character is a sinister square shape in an electronic / space-themed game. Look to Tempest 2000, Pink Floyd's The Wall, Hellraiser, or anything else sinister for inspiration. Aside from the villain, I need a 360-degree turret and 8 neutral characters that will rotate through space and bounce off of walls. It's going to ultimately have to be scaled for small screens, but also needs to look decent on a tablet. For the square, I'd like four variations or something simple enough that it can be varied easily through color changes as the difficulty increases. I leave it to the designer whether this should include any sort of face. Ideally it would be capable of inducing nightmares in small children, but should still fit with an electronic theme. I've attached a rather crude concept. The final doesn't have to look anything like this, but must be square-shaped. For the neutral characters, they can be anything, but a tendency toward angular shapes is preferred. I'm not really looking for anything too organic, but they can be generally friendly and/or innocent-looking. They will be rendered somewhat smaller than the squares.
Tron would also be good inspiration, as would any of the many 80s spaceship games. The soundtrack is going to be electronic, and the mood is going to be dark. Also attached is a screenshot of the mockup, so you can see how the items will be utilized. The squares are obvious; everything else is neutral except the circle, which is the placeholder for the turret.
