The Australia Institute
The Australia Institute is the country’s most influential progressive think tank. Based in Canberra, it conducts research on a broad range of economic, social and environmental issues in order to inform public debate and bring greater accountability to the democratic process.
This graphic will compare the amount of solar panels in the UK to Australia. The UK has more solar panels than Australia so the idea is to ask why a place that is often cloudy has more solar panels than Australia which gets a lot of sun.
The title of the graphic should be ‘Australia: are we using our sunny weather?’
A small sub heading should say ‘Solar panels in Australia and the UK’.
Beneath that should be the main image of the graphic.
There should be two houses. One that is represents the UK and one that represents Australia.
The UK houses should have lots of solar panels on its roof and it should have clouds hanging over it. Underneath the UK house should be the number 5000GW. Make sure this number stands out.
The Australia house should only have a tiny solar panel on it and it should have a sun over it. I would also like it if there was a coal fired power station behind the Australia house indicating that this is where we get our energy from instead. Underneath the Australia house should be the number 3691GW. Again this number should stand out.
This image of the two houses is the main part of the graphic so it should stand out and catch you eye.
Underneath the image should be a line that says ‘Why does the UK have more solar capacity than sunny Australia?’.
Please try and keep our logo in the original colours. You can change them if the colour scheme is not working though. We also want the logo to be prominent in the footer so please dont shrink it down too small.
