We're a small (2-person) company that develops mathematical software and provides technical consulting services. Our specific niche is a field known as *convex optimization*. "Optimization" is the mathematics behind finding the best way to allocate scarce resources.
For instance, engineers use optimization to design circuits that run as fast as possible without consuming too much power. Airlines use optimization to serve their passengers with as few airplanes, crew, and fuel as possible to minimize costs. Statisticians use optimization to analyze trends they see in data.
As you can imagine, optimization is a fairly advanced stuff, and our particular niche is just a *piece* of that field. So we are likely to remain a small consulting and software company. That's OK with us. But it doesn't mean we can't have a nice logo! And 99designs.com has come through for us in another company we're working on, too.
Here's the current web site: http://cvxr.com ... As you can see, this is a personal web site. That's going to change as we move "CVX Research" into a corporation and I bring on my partner formally. But the work we do is there. Our primary "product" is this software: http://cvxr.com/cvx
Here are other companies in the same space:

I think it's clear that Gurobi has the best web site design. Their logo is nice, too.
