The logo will primarily be used on my website, which uses a black background. The logo must fit in the sidebar (the current logo has a width of 170 pixels and fits in the sidebar which has a width of 240 pixels). Larger images are preferred, as long as they scale down to 170pixel width.
The logo will also be used as a watermark on my photos. The color of the logo should not clash with my photos or I may need multiple color versions or a greyscale version of the logo.
The logo should include "Aaron M" or "Aaron Meyers" and "Photography" (optional) somewhere.
I would like the logo to look professional. Please avoid scripted looking fonts. It should look elegant and modern. I find my current logo is slightly childish and am looking for an upgrade.
I prefer some type of pictorial logo (pictorial + words) in which I can just use the pictorial part of the logo in certain aspects (like on a favicon).
I almost exclusively work with a camera on a tripod. I do NOT use lights, strobes, video, umbrellas, or studio (i.e. these things should not be on the logo). My main tool for my photography is the sun (rising or setting), and beautiful earth in front of me. Additionally, any graphics used should look professional (i.e. a stick image of a tripod and camera will most likely look too cartoon'ish or clip-arty).
I would like to have a version of the logo that includes my website URL (http://www.aaronmphotography.com), which would be used as a watermark for my images and point viewers back to my website (as my photos are often shared all around the internet). The version of the logo to be used on my website does *not* need a URL.
Try to avoid using the standard shutter/aperture graphic. Too many photographers have a logo involving this. If it really helps make the logo look better, I'm OK with this though.
My current logo uses an image of a camera. The new logo does NOT need to include it.
One idea I was interested in is when the letter "A" is stacked on top of "M" it looks like a mountain. Since I shoot landscapes, some kind of play on that could be used. Feel free to ignore this suggestion and use your own creative ideas. I certainly want to look at options that don't incorporate this.
I have no requirements on spacing between "Aaron" and "Meyers" (or "M"). If using the initials "AM", space is optional (ok to be next to each other). I have no requirements on whether or not the "A" and "M" should be capitalized. Use your artistic freedom.
I'm open to having multiple layouts of the logo -- similar to the "Glogdata" logo that I included as logos that I like. Having the option to use the logo horizontally or vertical appeals to me.
Some kind of signature logo is also an option but I would still like there to be some kind of icon associated with the logo. A signature is a signature, not a logo, but it could be part of one.
Here are the things I liked about the example logos that I attached:
- Almost all of these logos have an icon + name
- Almost all of these logos use a nice, professional looking font for the name
- All of the logos are simple
- I'm interested in using some form a signature as part of the logo (note I said interested in, but not requiring)
- For the "GLOG" logo, I like that the logo can either be used large with the icon above the text (for use on a webpage) or can be used horizontally when needed (takes up less space)
- For the "Michael Bang" logo, I like that it's kind of fun, yet still professional looking. I'm not really sure how the splash of paint goes with photography ... perhaps because his name is "bang" .. so some graphic would need to make a little more sense towards photography.
Upon selection of winner, I would like EPS, PNG, and JPG formats. I would also like the fonts used to be included, in the event that I need to add or alter part of the image for specific uses (like adding URL).
