The Common Tongue
Mission Statement: The Common Tongue aims to tell simple and truthful stories. By investigating the playwright's power, collaborating across generations, and uniting diverse groups within the theatre community both home and abroad, we want to explore our generation's search for place, purpose and meaning.
We are a young theatre company producing new works and re-imagining of existing works--mostly in NYC but also occasionally in Los Angeles and now there will be a new international bent. Our audience has been mostly younger but we are targeting towards audiences who are keyed in to the downtown NYC theatre scene and who are educated about entertainment-so it can be all ages. We've worked with young playwrights and mid-career and very successful playwrights so one of our touchstones is diversity of age and voice.
I enclosed our old logo that I like the general feel of but I would like to graduate it to the next level, as we are redesigning the logo and the website. http://www.tctnyc.org is a good place to look as, while I am getting it redesigned, I want the logo and new site to maintian the essence of the site-the edgy, young energy feel, while bringing that to a more mature and sleek level.
