Lutheran Church, School, and Childcare
Our church and school reach predominantly busy, suburban families. We are increasingly reaching a more urban population as the city changes around us. We are just blocks from the city's medical center, and we are very much a community shaped by the military.
Logo types to explore
We've gone through a process of establishing our identity and wanting our logo to reflect that. We know this: -- We are a traditional congregation in every sense of the word, but we are also very high energy. We live in the tension of being both traditional and modern. We are looking for something that says "professional." We want to communicate our ancient roots yet still say 2013. -- We want a logo that clearly says that we are Christian, and that our name is Shepherd (of the Hills). Elements that reflect that can include a cross, a shepherd's staff, shepherd silhouette, sheep, etc. -- We want something that is bold and masculine, but not overly pretentious or grungy. See example logos for that. -- Our logo will be for both a church AND a school, so something more formal would be appropriate. If we like your work, we can talk about possibly designing a second logo for our school's athletic program, which will need to be a bit more aggressive. -- Colors: Our main color is royal blue but any variety of colors can be used so long as the royal blue is the most apparent color. Logo should also look good in black and white. Since our logo will be stitched on our school uniforms, it should look good on a variety of shirt colors (white, royal blue, and light blue). -- Attached is our old logo on our letterhead. You do NOT need to use any elements from this design; it is simply for reference. -- Font: Feel free to show us what you can do with typography but we've grown to like the Google Font "Alegreya" and "Alegreya SC" (small caps). The logo itself should look good when displayed w/o the church's name. -- Shape: Logo should look good when placed inside a twitter or facebook profile square. Thank you so much for your work on this. I know we will only be selecting one entry, but your work to help create a logo for our church is appreciated.
