Brian Yeager got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Create a unique, fun, catching logo for 89.5 Radio Station

We are a radio station targeting women 35-54. We are currently #1 in the Boise area in that demo. Our mission is to take people to a new place with Jesus that leads them to impact their community in practical ways. Our listeners are a variety of Christians, as well as people who just embrace positive values, or want an experience with God but not necessarily "church."
Logo types to explore
We’ve not found the logo look we are going for. The redesign concept hasn’t worked, so we are going to start from scratch. The purpose of this logo is to attract new listeners by making a statement that makes people want to try the station as soon as possible. Secondarily, it becomes a rally image, the visual representation of the family. Our target audience is women 35-54. They want the best for their kids. They want to be involved in something bigger. They want spirituality and meaning – some want church, some explore their spirituality in other ways. When asked, our listeners use these words to describe the station: Family Peace Love Worship Car Radio Positive Background Noise Loving People Attitude adjustment (mine) Good people Encouragement Inspirational Joyful noise Refreshing The core values that we hold dear are things like hope, family, fun, community involvement, changing people’s lives, community, a family mobilized to reach out. Two big themes are family and community – they are both very core to us. And family can be a single mom, a group of people, a traditional family. We are a Christian station, and spiritual – we talk about the things that matter to people. But the essence of the station is more friendly, cool, informal, fun, brief (rather than preachy and loud and intellectual). We want a logo that tells a story, rather than just a corporate looking swoosh or something that could be on any one of a 1000 companies letterhead. We’re looking for one of two options: 1. A logo that is fun, exciting, and says the core values of the station. We don’t want it to reflect music or an antenna or something like that (logos like these may be eliminated automatically). We want it to reflect the values that we have – fun, family, community, etc. Here’s some great websites of logos we like in this theme: http://inspirationfeed.com/2011/07/how-and-why-to-create-an-unconventional-logo/ http://www.allbloggertools.com/33-amazing-logos/ 2. We’ve fallen in love with the Life is Good type concept – a basic logo with a character/emblem/design (possibly people, although we’re open to other ideas – the people should be fun, contemporary, a bit trendy – I’ve uploadeda jpg of some people designs we like – they tend to be abstract and contemporary – not 70’s looking silhouettes or clipart-ish) that captures the essence of that station with a distinctive font look. That font look could then be used with other images (like a sports graphic for the baseball games we go to, a cross or something spiritual, a jumping up and down guy for concerts, whatever). You can see examples of this approach here: http://www.lifeisgood.com/category/women/tops/ Our other logo concept for The Bridge may end up using the same logo – so you may want to submit your logos to both contests and you could potentially win double prizes.

Excellent experience. Quickest final design in my competition and remained the best to the end. Designer was very responsive and would send back requests very quickly, understanding the time difference. I would highly recommend.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
