Most important for me is uniqueness, I don't want to find my logo with Google images. You can use the word "Software" if it helps, I don't know yet if it needs to be there. I only meet people in software so it might be redundant. You can play with case and space between the characters V L A M 3 D, I haven't decided yet on how we should write vlam3d. I own vlam3d.com and vlam3d.ca but I have nothing there yet. I didn't purchase the template option because I hate templates. After I get the logo, I'll shop around to get a unique very minimalist website.
I'm a 38 years old computer geek, I need a relatively mature looking logo. I prefer shades of grays to colors.
Favorite movie is Blade Runner.
Current line of work is "3d facial performance capture" (google it up)
So abstract art related to 3D face is a good starting point, as long as the result is abstract enough to be a good 3D software logo in the future.
The company will always do 3D software, so any logo with a sense of depth is a plus.
Explore Escher and Escher-like drawings, most of them are very busy but they have interesting elements that could be isolated for my logo.
