Who are you known as?
Health Professionals for Global Health
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Health Professionals for Global Health believes in social and political action to bring about global health equity.
We use education and advocacy in our local and national networks to engage health workers in considering determinants of health beyond our GP practices and hospitals. We recognise that wealth, equality, jobs, education, good governance, and protecting our environment and our human rights improve our health, while poverty, inequality, unemployment, ignorance, corruption, climate change and disregard for common human values lead to ill health.
Our members are a diverse national network of health professionals from all around the UK. We work with these health professionals, and aim to engage with professional organisations from around the UK, as well as local and national government to improve health in the UK and abroad.

Other notes
Although our membership is predominantly made up of UK-based health professionals, we would not like to emphasise the UK as we aim to make global change, and would not like to emphasise health as we look beyond healthcare at social, economic and political issues.
