GreenRecord did a stellar job. He provided numerous options for us during the design phase and really responded to feedback.
Once we had chosen his design, he was still very helpful in customizing it for several different use cases and versions -- some of which we had not specified up front.
Would definitely work with him again and strongly recommend him.
How KyleF started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a small software startup in silicon valley with an ambition to change the world of enterprise networking (the ethernet kind).
Our product is broken down in to a series of different projects, many of which are open source. Floodlight, the subject of this design brief, is our flagship open source product. It is a controller for a new new form of networking called "OpenFlow".
Floodlight is a truly innovative product, and just as importantly is considered to be a new standard of engineering craftsmanship in our area. The codebase underneath (if you like that kind of thing) is clean, minimalist and elegant. It is intended to be a shining light in the community of open source engineers who work with us to show the path of high quality engineering.
The principles we'd like to see included in the logo include light, simplicity, openness, and potentially networks (open to creative interpretation) as well.

Logo types to explore

Target audience is a community of open source software developers and network administrators at major companies who would excited to download and try out the software. Its a very technical crowd and one very committed and knowledgable in their domain (networking). For reference, the major corporate competitors in this space include Cisco, Juniper, HP, Dell, and Arista.
We require a logo in small (icon), medium (web page header) and large size (splash screen on a webpage or for a t-shirt).
UPDATE: Wanted to offer some general feedback based on the designs we are seeing. My team is looking for some options that are more of the pictoral / literal form -- actually have a floodlight or something like that in them too.
