This is a new start-up company logo. Shifana had won a previous contest we had put on.. so rather than risk not getting what we want by running another contest, we decided to work directly with Shifana. She has her own great ideas and is also willing to listen ourwishes. She's fantastic.

Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a non-profit organization that is experiencing growth over the past couple of years. We have never taken the time to develop a logo that fits with our mission. Our current logo is mostly a play on our acronym, CHES, Inc. Our tagline is, “Financial Freedom…It’s Your Move” and our mission is financial, credit and homeownership empowerment. Our current logo feels a bit outdated and has no fluidity. We are in a good place go with a new logo as our marketing materials and signage on our building are easily replaceable.
What we are ideally looking for:
• Something that looks current.
• Something that conveys movement.
• Something that identifies with our acronym (CHES, Inc.).
A little background on the organization’s name (Credit & Homeownership Empowerment Services, Inc.) and acronym (CHES, Inc.): We went with the easily identifiable acronym and related it to a chess game, whereas one might start out as a pawn in the financial, credit or homeownership arena, but with education and knowledge, they can identify with pieces that have control of their financial future. We don’t, however, want to be mistaken for a chess club. That was an issue we had when we originally had a chess board in our logo. We changed to a chess piece and that seemed to identify more like a clever play on the name.
