Accounting & Financial
We are a hedge fund that invests money for individuals and institutions. Praus means power under control or strength with forbearance. It was used by the ancient Greeks to describe a wild stallion that had been trained for war. The stallion would maintain all the power and strength it had while in the wild, but, after being trained, would embody complete self-control. Another interpretation would be something that is very powerful but exercises great restraint in knowing the exact right time to act, never letting emotions dictate behavior. We approach investing in this manner and believe these characteristics are very important to continued success. Therefore, we would like our logo to embody these characteristics (i.e., strong and powerful yet controlled, calm, stable, patient).
We generally like logos that are clean, refined, tailored, crisp, and classic. We also tend to lean toward colors like blues and neutrals but are open to other color options. Most hedge funds use blues and neutrals so it would be nice to have some subtle difference to distinguish us. One way to do this might be through the use of an accent color (see the attached files for some examples). We also tend to like serif fonts because we feel they have a more mature, classic feel. However, we are open to other options. Attached are some images of logos that I like (the images are not in any particular order). Here are the things that I like about each design: Rangestone: font, font weight, letter spacing, font color, mountain graphic style (not specifically the mountain, more the style of the graphic (simple, clean)) Redstone: text layout with Redstone over capital management Kempler: use of initials in logo, full name next to initials; we could use PCM in the logo Secor: layout of name and use of an accent color A&I: another example of initials and full name Matrix: unique, abstract logo Drum: unique, abstract logo Corabel: unique, abstract logo; very clean with good color contrast Marble Rock: layout of name Karmel: unique, clean logo This provides some general guidance on what we tend to like but the designers should feel free to stray from this guidance based on their judgement.
