We are an online business helping authors publish ebooks and using search engine optimisation to bring in users/readers. The books are mostly non-fiction "how to" books and our authors are gurus in their fields, hence the name "gurusmart". Users download books, pay a small amount for them, and then rate them and comment on them to give future users guidance on the quality and usefulness of the content.
Logo types to explore
Our slogan is "Books and guides from the smartest gurus". Because to the double-meaning of "guru smart" and "gurus mart" (like market), we don't want to separate the two words too much or have them in different colours. Our books and guides mainly cover "how to" and advice topics. They are specialist and niche, for example "What to pack for a trip to Nepal", "How to grow beautiful daisies", "Basics of picture framing", "How to publish your own book", "Training for new staff at a coffee shop" etc. Our target users are people with hobbies/interests, or people at work who are looking for information to solve a problem or apply to a project. They are generally aged 25+, they are fairly well-educated, they look for information and advice online and they are comfortable buying online with credit cards or Paypal accounts. We are looking for a design that has a "graphic mark" in it that can stand alone withot the words - like a book with a relevant image in/on it or maybe the G of the name representing something. We also want a design that has good solid/substantial lines, fonts and artwork so it will look good and stand out on our website and for other uses eg. reversed out white on black etc. We don't like the images that will exclude people or are a bit specific - like an owl and or a guru/buddha. Instead we'd like to be about "inspiration, insight, knowledge and ideas", that "anybody can publish or share" to "guide readers or help them solve problems". Relevant images might be things like lightbulbs, rays of light, lightning... or a creative idea of yours!
