Miswak Foundation for Oral Health a is a Muslim faith-based nonprofit dental relief organization that provides free oral healthcare indiscriminately to our fellow brothers and sisters in humanity who have little to no access to care. We do most of our work at the international level but do have plans for, and have sponsored local events in, the USA. Our operations are financed by donors so the logo and the branding will have to appeal to not only the patients that we see but the donors that we reach out to for donations. Most of our donations come from dental and medical professionals located mostly in the USA but we have donors all over the world.
Miswak: Is a traditional alternative to the modern tooth brush with a long and well-documented history and reputed for its medicinal benefits. Its use has been documented among cultures and peoples the world over. It also features prominently in Islamic hygienical jurisprudence. The miswak is a teeth cleaning twig made from a Salvadora Persica tree. Please follow this link to get more information about the miswak. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miswak.
Additionally, the Miswak holds great significance for Muslims in particular, as its use symbolizes an act of love towards Islam's last Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him); adherence to his way and recommendations--of which the Miswak was one--fills the hearts of Muslims with joy and serenity, and thus, the Miswak represents spirituality as well as vitality (as it relates to oral health).
Please note: We are currently operating as "Muslims Without Borders Dental Relief" (aka MWB-DR, MWB Dental Relief), though we will be changing our name to Miswak Foundation within the next few months. Please visit our website (http://www.mwbdental.org) to explore some of our current work. We've also included two renderings of our current logo, to give you an idea of what we've used in the past (please note: this is not an indication that we're looking for something similar, but simply to provide designers with an idea of who we are and what our current operations look like. Feel free to derive inspiration from anything you see in our work, but please know that we are definitely seeking as much ingenuity, creativity, and originality as possible :-))
