Jakob Magiera got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Logo wanted for international church in Berlin - abstraction is key

We equip mobile, multi-cultural, English-speaking internationals to become disciple-making followers of Jesus Christ who make a difference in the world.
Logo types to explore
General: 1. It should be simple so that it can work everywhere 2. It should be equally effective when rendered in gray scale and not only in color 3. It should be scalable that it still looks good both when enlarged on big banners as well as compressed on a small item, for example a giveaway pen 4. The symbol should be to the left of the text. Typeface: Because the church name is very traditional, a playful typeface can better portray our church as young and modern (our style of worship). Our only requirement is that the “T’s” are enhanced to subtly resemble the cross. Should you choose a more playful font, then a basic Sans Serif typeface should be combined for the words “Baptist Church” to provide some balance. Colors: We like the idea of unusual color combinations to give a unique and distinctive look i.e., using both a cool and warm color harmoniously blended by varying them in saturation and value. The base color will be the cool color, the accent color will be the warm color, and grey used as enhancement color. Examples: 1. Blue Violet (rgb 136,43,226) + Orange (rgb 255,204,102) or Light Salmon (rgb 255, 160,122) 2. Dark Blue (rgb 0,0,139 or rgb 0,0,204) + Orange (rgb 255,204,0) or Yellow (rgb 255,255,51) or Lime Green (204,255,51) 3. Slate Blue (rgb 63, 105, 128), Teal Blue (rgb 2,163,174) or Dark Cyan (rgb 0,138,138) + Pale Crimson Red (rgb 165, 82, 95) 4. Purple, (rgb 153, 0, 153) + Orange (rgb 255,204,102) or Yellow (rgb 255,255,51) 5. Medium Violet (rgb 204,51,255) + Green (rgb 204,255, 153) 6. Dark Orchid (rgb 153,50,204) + Lime Green (rgb 204,255,51). Shape: As for the shape, we definitely prefer abstract over concrete, simple over complex and subtle over obvious. No globes, bibles or obvious crosses, please. 1. Should be able to stand alone without the church name. 2. Should not merely enumerate the values/attributes but more so capture the attention that only upon closer scrutiny, a person is able to understand the message. 3. Should not just portray individual words in the picture but more so, tell a story. Being a disciple-making church, the story is the Great Commission, “to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”. 4. We really love the concept of using negative space with hidden or double meanings. One suggestion is an abstract rendition of the Christian symbol, the fish - a reference to “go and make disciples”. 5. We like the use of light and shadow to make the graphic pop out of the page and make it more 3-dimensional or even to create motion blurs creating the optical illusion of movement. The use of light and shadow can also be applied to the letter T to make the cross pop out.
