How Jwce21 started their logo & hosted website journey
Who are you known as?
Portland Flying Club
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a group of aviators who own and fly airplanes together. We currently own a Cirrus SR22 and will be adding another one to the fleet soon. We seek to attract membership.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Community & Non-Profit
What colors do you want to see in your design?
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
Our airplane, ‘Foxy’, gets her name from the formal name of the company that owns her of which we’re members... ‘Whiskey Tango Fox LLC’... it would be great to have the logo incorporate a sort of ‘mascot fox’ for the club... a ‘flying fox’... Maybe a fox wearing a leather jacket and an aviator’s scarf?
As one of the co-founders of this club, I personally want to see it capture the heart, soul, and lore of aviation... drawing from its storied past (so perhaps images from airmail and Pan Am for example)... and depicting a hope for its noble future... I’ve been part of aviator clubs and communities since I flew helicopters for the Army, and now I fly Foxy around while running a drone software company. My personal ambition in starting this club is to continue and extend aviaition’s Great legacy and celebrate it with a community of folks who feel the same.
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the logo and hosted website?
It should be based on the trove of amazing pictures we have of our current airplane, ‘Foxy’, and of us flying her around the country on adventures. We want to illicit a sense of welcomed membership to the club... both to current members who come there to do simple things like schedule the aircraft or see upcoming club events or posts from past ones... and to potential members, who are looking for a true ‘aviator’s club’ that they’d like to join. Fundamentally, it’s a website about connecting people with the amazing adventure of flying.
Jimdo templates to explore
‘Home’ - Beautiful image of Foxy with big landscape background. Mission statement. The ability to either go into a members area or explore becoming a member.
‘Members Area’ - Needs to host airplane scheduler and calendar. Would like to look at a calendly.com integration. Should also have a section for posting pictures from personal flights members want to share and of club events. Needs some kind of forum for members to interact.... I guess this is probably just a blog and scheduler? Again... calendly.com is pretty impressive and we’d love to integrate it.
‘Explore Membership’ - This should basically be a lot like the way airplanes are listed for sale... this is a decent example: http://www.lonemountainaircraft.com…ct/n305kp/ ... Members are basically buying in to our airplane (and our growing fleet), so we need to list all its features. There should also be an enticement to join the ‘aviators club’ that PFC is... we’ll have monthly club meetings that should really foster community. Perhaps a set of member bios would also be nice... starting with me and Adam Sweet.
