steve.newhouse got their new app design by running a design contest:
[iOS App] Screens + Look & Feel for Social Game
Check out steve.newhouse's App design contest…
Games & Recreational
This app is a social game that allows people to issue "tickets" for arbitrary "offenses" to friends. Friends can then respond either by pleading guilty, paying a virtual "fine", or asking a jury of their peers to review & judge their innocence or guilt of the offense.
Should draw from the world of policing / traffic cops / parking tickets. Those are the themes. Target demographic is mostly male, aged 15-30. Should have a light, fun, fresh style but not to the point of cartoon-like.
The screen designs needed are as follows. This should be primarily a color / iconography / layout / look & feel exercise, not a major redesign of interactions and flows. See the attached GIF and images. 1. Crime Feed This is the "home" screen where you can see all the tickets being issued amongst your friends and tap into them to get details. Each item in this list view is a ticket. It shows a snippet of the ticket description (i.e. what the "offense" was), the "fine" amount (i.e. how serious the offense is), the offender name & avatar, the ticket current status (text & icon), the time since it was issued (i.e. "3 d" or "now"). See screenshot for how this looks currently. 2. Ticket details view Shows the details of the ticket. Layout changes based on ticket status and user's relationship to the ticket (offender, issuer, juror, none of the above). It always shows the issuer, the offender, the fine amount, the description of the ticket, and a "Comments" interface. It MAY show an image of the offense, a "defense" message and image added by the offender as part of the "Ask a Jury" flow, offender actions (Pay Fine, Plead Guilty, Ask a Jury), current Juror status (if On Trial, can be "Waiting", "Innocent", or "Guilty"). 3. Profile View Shows your profile details. Includes avatar, "Good Level", "Bad Level", current credits, buttons to view tickets received, given, or where you are a juror, button to go to the Store (where you can buy more credits to issue tickets or pay fines). You can log out here as well. Note: as you do good things or bad things within the app, your Good/Bad levels increase or decrease. There's a whole "rank" system and you can become "Chief of Police" on the good side, or "Crime Lord" on the bad side, for example. The icons do not change "per level", they just represent your good side and your bad side...
