Fun & Saucy Romance Novel Card Game

Games & Recreational
A new game company creating a pack of cards for a romance-novel-inspired game. It’s a bit like Cards Against Humanity meets Balderdash. We’ve played this game ad hoc with friends and family members (of all ages and genders) but are now working to actually design it and turn it into a real product! Here’s the quick version of how you play the game: (1) One person (the “narrator”) draws a card and reads the back description of a saucy romance novel out loud to the group. (2) Then, each person (other than the narrator) writes down what they imagine to be the first line of the novel. Meanwhile, the narrator writes down the actual first line (so it needs to be on the card where the narrator but not the players can see it). (3) The narrator reads out all the first lines and people vote on which one is real. For every vote your line gets, you get a point; and if you guess correctly, you get a point. (4) Someone else becomes the narrator and repeats steps 1-3 with a new book (i.e. the next card in the pack) Our target audience probably skews towards 20-40 years old but could go older (and both genders). It’s not targeted at people who actually read these books. It’s targeted at groups looking to have fun -- some of the descriptions/lines are pretty crazy and it’s a laugh to see what your friends come up with when writing their imagined lines!
What's your vision?
We’re looking for design ideas for the gameplay cards, which show description and first line for each novel. Cards should be 6x8 inches in dimension (i.e. similar to the size of many books). The front side of each card will need to have (1) book title (2) book description (max 700 characters) and (3) the first line (called the “pick up line”; max 30 characters). We are less clear what the back side of each card should look like, so would appreciate seeing creative ideas! It might be standard across each card back (e.g., just the logo or a consistent graphic). Or it might be stock pictures / graphics that vary card by card. We’ll eventually create a pack of 100+ cards in a box. We are looking to nail down a couple finalists for the design template. Design goals: + Funny and saucy + Imaginative / creative + Clear that it relates to romance novels + PG13 level of sauciness (i.e. could still be sold at Target or Walmart) + Readable (i.e. text isn’t too small for our parents to read) Please note that you do NOT need to use the color scheme or logo from our initial test designs.
The game is ridiculous and hilarious. Definitely for adults. We’re also trying to ensure we’re inclusive of all races, genders and sexual orientations. We designed a prototype for testing, which is attached. We tried a few designs for what the back side of the card might look like. Please take a look at that so you can get a general sense of the key parts of the content - but let your creative skills run wild as you dream up other designs! You do NOT need to use the same logo or color scheme that we used in these initial prototypes -- really just sharing so you can get a sense of the various components of the game that need be included. Also including a few book covers in case you’re not familiar with the genre.
