Ceeds Of Peace

Executive Summary: The developers of Ceeds of Peace believe that each community, each school, and each family knows its environment best. Members are intimately familiar with their unique strengths, histories, and challenges and are therefore in the best position to create their own solutions in collaborative and strategic ways. Ceeds of Peace offers a ground-up approach to problem solving through a facilitative framework whereby participants work through an action plan tailored to their unique contexts. To complement the action plans, Ceeds of Peace trainers assist early childhood, elementary, and secondary education teachers to integrate peace education activities into existing curricula to ensure “ceeds” are being planted around our children by families, schools, and communities. The overarching goal of Ceeds of Peace is to build strategic and thoughtful leadership skills, or “ceeds,” such as conflict resolution, critical thinking, compassion, and collaboration in adults who impact children - and in children themselves - to end violence, fear, and hate in our schools, families, and communities.

Theory of Change: Ceeds of Peace workshops provide a 360° approach to transforming communities by creating safe and thriving homes and schools. Peacebuilders plant “ceeds” of peace, which include the following “C” outcomes. Every child and adult:

1. Loves learning because Curiosity and Creativity are encouraged.
2. Learns Compassion and how to be an empathetic listener.
3. Has the ability to look at an issue with Critical Thinking skills.
4. Works well with others through Collaboration.
5. Learns to problem solve effectively, using a variety of Conflict Resolution strategies.
6. Learns how to take Care of their bodies, physically and emotionally.
7. Learns how to use their moral Courage to stand up for others who need it.
8. Learns and practices Conservation and how to share our planet’s natural resources fairly and responsibly.
9. Sees her or himself as an important part of a larger Community and contributes positively to that community.

Participants in Ceeds of Peace workshops include family members, teachers, school counselors, principals, family liaisons, coaches, and community members. Participants are committed to collaboratively raising peacebuilders to help solve our communities’ most challenging issues.
