Art & Design
My website provides tutorials to teach people how to make paper pop up greeting cards. My website has a blog and a will have a store front to sell the digital templates (PDF files).
Please look at my current website to see what kinda of cards i make: http://www.creativepopupcards.com/tutorials/ I would really like to see something creative and colorful. Here are a few websites i like: http://www.svgcuts.com/ -I would like to eventually grow my business to something like this. The design is not very exciting, but it looks very professional http://www.creativepapercrafts.com/products/pergamano.aspx -clean and elegant http://www.craftbits.com/paper-crafts -creative, but a little messy. I dont like the "paper" background http://www.craftsy.com/class/Paper-Arts/25 -clean, professional, but i dont like the '60's logo http://silhouetteamerica.com/papercrafting.aspx -professional, but may need more color.
Homepage: -The homepage should show my blog. -Somewhere else on the homepage should showcase some of my previous card designs (that can be changed manually or automatically). -I would like a place to subscribe and the text "Subscribe for updates on new designs and coupons", Facebook "Like", and any other social media/reader links. -I would also like the link to the store to be easily accessible. - I would also like a place to put "buy my ebook" . -There should also be a list of blog post categories for browsing. -At the top, i would like to have links to other pages which would use the same basic layout as the home page: About, Pop up card templates and tutorials, How to make a pop up card, and Tools and supplies. Store page: -This page will showcase all of my designs. - It should have a way to search for designs related to a category, such as Christmas cards, birthday cards, etc. -Each design will have an image (or ability to show multiple images) link to the tutorial blog post, a price and a buy it button, which would link to a shopping cart. -This page should also have room for optional promotional words at the top like "sale" or "buy3 get one free". -There may be a single page for each item i'm selling, which would use either the homepage or store page layout. Here are some examples of a nice store fronts: http://www.peartreegreetings.com/Holiday-Cards/Christmas-Cards/index.cat http://www.hallmark.com/occasion/christmas-holiday/christmas just keep in mind that it will need to be implemented using wordpress. I do not have a logo. This contest is not aimed to create a logo, but if you have an idea, feel free to include it with your layout design.
70% of my audience are female, so i want the look to appeal and inspire creative females. 33% of my audience are female and between the age of 15-25. At the same time, I dont want it too girlie because I'm a guy and i dont want to isolate the 30% males out there. So it should be have some hint of masculinity. With that being said, most men who visit are hopelessly in love and come to my site to make Valentine's day cards. I am targeting crafters, scrapbookers, and people who want to make their own wedding invitations. There should be a balance of color/energy and being clean/professional. This will be implemented using Wordpress and will incorporate a shopping cart/payment system. Please no flash. SEO should be kept in mind.
