About us

Welcome to the Skrimpy.com design contest. Please take a couple minutes to read all the design details below. This is a serious contest and I would like to guarantee the contest as soon as enough designs come in. I will be an active contest holder. Please submit your entries early in the contest because I hope to finish the contest by Friday or sooner if possible instead of waiting 7 days. Don’t miss out. I will also be needing a Twitter background and Wordpress template designed to match so there is opportunity for additional work for the right designer. Skrimpy.com is a daily deals and coupon site similar to retailmenot.com and couponcabin.com. Visitors come to the site to get daily deals, find online coupon codes, print grocery coupons and find shopping tips on saving money. Where does the name Skrimpy come from? Skrimpy is a web 2.0 play on scrimp and scrimpy – To be frugal, To scrimp and save – Fits the shopping and coupon theme.

The Brief

Page descriptions

Skrimpy uses the OWS Deals coupon script. I am looking for a redesign of the homepage of OWSDeals.com and custom logo to use as the homepage template for Skrimpy.com. I will load the coupon script from OWSDeals.com and use the PSD you design for Skrimpy. You can view owsdeals.com for the cookie cutter design. I will keep all the functionality of owsdeals.com and add some functionality like grocery coupons, printable coupons and more social features. Looking for a creative, fun, unique redesign of owsdeals.com. Please DO NOT plagiarize or copy graphics from other coupon sites. I am not set on any particular color scheme. Feel free to be creative. The site will be community based so Facebook, Twitter, Google +1 badges should be very visible. Email signup box for daily deals and coupons should also be in a prime location.

Other notes

Target audience: The audience will be of all ages but primarily women and mothers who like to shop and save money. General Features: Content on left, wide sidebar right, possibly wide bottom sidebar if needed. I’m open to ideas. Here are some suggestions to get started. - Header – Custom Logo design / Search Bar - Top Navigation Elements - Home / Deals / Coupon Codes / Grocery Coupons / Printable Coupons / How to Coupon - Bottom Navigation – About Us / Privacy Policy / Terms of Use / Share a Coupon / Contact Sidebar Content Top right - “Tell a Friend About Skrimpy” box. (See FECB.jpg attached. This is a screenshot of couponcabin’s friend box, email signup and coupon buttons. Needs redesigned to be unique for Skrimpy. Don’t need the view sample email link) Categories Follow & Share Skrimpy on Facebook Box/Widget Top Stores Top Coupons Tags
